Check out their site for the next party - www.brutko.com - in winter it’s usually in a club or bar in or around Budapest, in summer an outdoor club to take advantage of the balmy summer weather - think suntans and cocktails! Expect House, Acid, Electro, Nudisco - and entrance will cost you just 1,000 HUF ~ 4 EUR! Things start to happen after 11 pm.

Cruisinig Bars

Action Bar

Address: 5th district, Magyaru. 42.
Open: everyday 21-04

Right in the middle of downtown Budapest, a bit of a trick to find - look for a big yellow “A” sign and head down to the basement. Nothing mixed about this place – strip + show at 0045 Friday nights, “oral academy” same time Saturday nights - and a big and enthusiastic crowd. Check out their brand new facebook page too!

CoXx Club

Address: 7th district, Dohányu. 38.
Open: Sun-Thu 21-04, Fri-Sat 21-05

This place generally attracts a younger gay crowd than the Action Bar. It’s really big and really well-equipped (dark room, prison area, sling room, glory holes etc), theme parties on Saturdays.

Habroló Bisztró

our favourite!

Cosy, small and retro gay bistro in Budapest downtown. And very friendly. Good place to hang out and meet the locals. For a change of scene, wander next door to the Funny Carrot...

Thermal baths and saunas

Rudas bath (Turkish bath)

our recommendation
Address: 1st. district, Döbrentei tér 9.
Open: Opening time of the thermal bath area:
Mon-Wed-Thu-Fri men’s days 6-20,
Tuesday women’s day 6-20,
Saturday, Sunday mixed days 6-17,
Friday, Saturday mixed nights 22-04.

A visit to Rudas is worth it just to lie in the main pool, under a domed roof built by the Turks in the 1560‘s during their long occupation of Hungary. In earlier times the bath was exclusively for men, in the Turkish tradition. Nowadays it is shared - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are men only days. Tuesdays are for women only, while the weekends are mixed. It might be a men-only environment but this is not a gay-friendly place! When you enter you can get a little apron, a strange form of modesty. Rudas has a lot of gay customers, but be discrete.

Gay Club

AlterEgo Club

Address: 6th ditrict, Dessewffy u. 33. (at the corner of Dessewffy str. and Nagymező str.)

Gay straight mix club in Budapest. Fills up after about 11, so you might get stuck in the queue. It’s a dance venue, full of pretty young things - so if dancing is what you are looking for. But don’t go just for the drag show!

Capella Café

Address: 5th district, Belgrád rkp. 23.
Open: Wed 22-04, Fri-Sat 22-05

Capella opens its doors at 10 pm, the drag queens strut their stuff at midnight (a very professional and high-quality show) and the party rages on till 4 or 5 in the morning. It’s a mixed straight-gay-lesbian venue with two dance floors and several bars down by the river, one of the oldest gay clubs of Budapest. Worth a visit during the week.
